If you haven’t owned a HDTV before, you haven’t seen the best TV has to offer. As much as many naysayers want you to believe HDTVs are overrated, in reality you can’t argue with the quality. But one thing that has been always an issue with HDTVs is their high level of energy consumption. These gadgets burn a lot of energy and can increase your electricity bill by a bit, depending on how long you keep your HDTV on. Energy Star HDTVs are energy efficient HDTVs that not only save energy but save you money at the same time.

Talk about a thin HDTV. Sony is planning to introduce Bravia ZX1 which will set the bar exceptionally high in the HDTV market when it comes to HDTV thickness. The ZX1 is a 40 inch HDTV that is only 9.9mm thick. That makes ZX1 one of the thinnest HDTVs on the market.
Yet another indication that the HDTV market is headed towards super slim HDTVs in the near future.

A 29mm Plasma TV? That’s what you get with the latest Samsung UN55B8000XF. It’s so thin that Samsung uses a finger to make its point. It’s light as well. Best of all, it’s more energy efficient than previous Samsung HDTVs. It’s not too hard to realize where Samsung and the HDTV industry is going. We are going to see more energy efficient HTDVs with thinner layouts. The dianasaur HDTVs of the past few years are on their way out, and no longer do you spend a fortune on your energy bills.
Samsung is certainly not the only HDTV company that is thinking about energy efficient HDTVs. HDTVs’ high level of energy consumption has been a big deal to consumers. No wonder HDTV companies are addressing that. And my hunch is Samsung UN55B8000XF is just a start.

If you have bought a Samsung HDTV lately, there is a good chance you have heard about the whole Internet TV and BD Live. These new services allow you to do all kinds of things with your HD content. You can chat online, talk to movie directors, and more with interactive content. With WIS09ABGN Wireless Adapter, you can now bring DLNA, Internet TV, and BD Live to your HDTVs.
Internet TV allows you to get Yahoo! widgets right on your HDTV. InfoLink brings more interactivity to your HDTV. DLNA also lets you access your PC-based music, video, and pictures from any room in your home. And who can forget about BD Live which can take your blu-ray experience to a whole new level.

If you own one of the above Samsung HDTVs, you should definitely consider getting a WIS09ABGN Wireless Adapter. Once you get it, you’ll wonder how you have gone without it.

Amazon Video On Demand service is one of the most popular on-demand video services on the Internet. Not only it’s convenient, but it’s pretty affordable too. The service was getting a lot of flak for not offering HD options to customers. That is soon going to change as Amazon is finally planning to bring HD quality content to its video on demand service.

Amazon’s Instant HD now allows you to download HD content to your PC or Mac and watch it at the comfort of your home without having to deal with retail stores. You can also use it on Roku. You can rent HD movies for $3.99 and $4.99 and watch TV shows in HD for only $2.99. Who needs cable when you have Instant HD from Amazon.

The times may be tough, but that hasn’t stopped folks from buying up HDTVs and Blu-ray players. In reality, people who don’t have job have more time to watch TV. And those who have jobs are staying indoors more often to save money. Whatever the case, retailers have played a big part in keeping the HD market hot. Smart retailers such as Amazon understand that people don’t want to spend more than they must to get their hands on HD content. And while giving $200 off on a HDTV + Blu-Ray combo is not that big of a discount, it’s still something to keep the consumers excited. Will that be enough to encourage folks to spend more money on HD gadgets? I am not so sure. A lot will depend on the job market rebounds. The more people find jobs, the more they can buy things. When will we see that? That’s a whole other discussion.

The economy may be in recession, but the HDTV market is as hot as ever. Mitsubishi is one of the HDTV companies that are introducing a lot of new models to the market. In case of HDTV, it is introducing a few new models with 3D picture capability. These HDTVs are not cheap, but at least Mitsubishi is listening to its customers and bringing what’s hot right now: 3D picture. Here is what David Naranjo, Director of Product Development at Mitsubishi, had to say:
We are clearly keeping pace with this increased demand and our new line-up of Home Theater TVs offer consumers the opportunity to bring 3D into their own home to enjoy 3D movies and games.
These new 3D HDTVs are the future of TV before we get those CNN hologram gadgets. I am not sure about the experience as of yet. But you can expect to pay a lot of money to get your hands on these TVs.
Your take: would you an extra $500 or $1000 for the 3D experience on your HDTV?

We have seen in the past mini HDTV launches. Sometimes companies introduce 4 or 5 new HDTV models to reach out to more prospects. But Hitachi has taken the game to the next level by introducing 11 (!) new HDTV models to be released later this year. The Wooo UT800, and WoooUT003 lines are getting new models that we will not see in action by October 2009. We are talking about LCD and Plasma models. All these models come with a iVDR-S slot, a SDHC memory card slot and a 250GB hard drive.
One interesting about these devices is the support for Yahoo! Japan. One has to wonder what the U.S. models will include.

And Hitachi promises low energy HDTVs, and that confirms many experts’ suspicions that the eco-HDTV market would grow fast in 2009. How green are these? We will have to wait and see!

Sony’s latest XBR HDTVs are soon coming to stores. According to Sony Style, KDL52XBR9 will be released on April 25th and will cost you a cool $3600! This cool HDTV combines crystal-clear 1080p technology with Sony’s new 240Hz anti-blur technology to provide you with higher a quality picture. You also get am Ethernet port which you can use surf the Internet and use BRAVIA Internet Video/Widgets. And it doesn’t hurt that you get four HDMI inputs, a PC input, and a USB input that lets you connect a compatible camera to your HDTV for your slide-shows.
I still wanted to see Wireless N capability with this HDTV, but I guess we will have to wait to see that. But at least the Motionflow™ 240Hz technology is something worth waiting for. Here is a summary:
KDL-52XBR9 is available for pre-order and lowest price so far is that of Amazon (includes free shipping).
